This car is not pretending to be what it is not. It has the appearance of a mobile barn find or an oily rag restoration and as such received the Shannons award for the “Best Citroen” at the 2017 Queensland Grand Display of French Cars in Brisbane.

On the positive side, the old girl goes quite well. When I got the car I fitted a new exhaust manifold and a ring gear carrier (an arrangement peculiar to this model) at quiet some cost. Also fitted were 5 new custom 15inch wheels and tyres. Had the head done and fitted new pistons and sleeves. The motor was already fitted with late model D con. Rods and slipper bearings. An electric water pump and twin thermo fans take care of the cooling along with a recond. radiator. The electrics have been well modified with a new 80amp Bosch alternator feeding a recently replaced HD battery.

The brakes have all been relined with soft linings, wheel cylinders have stainless steel sleeves and the system has a PBRV40 vacuum booster and all new rubber hoses and brake pipes. Good Brakes. The most recent addition has been electric power steering for which a legal Modification Plate is attached. Light steering. Seats, door trims and dash are tidy. Fuel system sorted including a POR treatment to the interior of the fuel tank. Clean fuel. New gas Pedders all round. Good ride. A very nice new hoodlining has recently been fitted. New CV type drive shafts have been imported and fitted. New wheel bearings both front and rear also done.

All of the original parts removed from the vehicle, 5 rims, steering, drive shafts and many spares, tools and a workshop Manuel are included.

There is still work to be done to the car including carpeting and a tidy up of the door trims and fitting new engine mounts (supplied).

The old girl screams patina. Paint is blistered and missing, the chrome is rusty and she will rattle on rough roads. Please don’t consider buying this car and turning into a trailer queen, it is almost certainly the best unrestored Big Six in Australia with this much patina and that can’t be bought in a bottle. This car attracts more attention at a display or on the road than most restored cars and is a fun car to own.

Currently SIV registered (Club rego.) not transferable.
