WATERFALL WAY RUN

DAY ONE

Meet at Beaudesert on Friday the 26th of April at 8.30 in the Aldi car park off Brisbane St between Tubber and Selwyn Sts.

Exit Beaudesert on the Mt Lindsay Highway passing through Rathdowney after morning tea and Palen Creek. On crossing the Qld. NSW border the highway becomes Summerland Way which reverts to My Lindsay Highway again as it heads towards Woodenbong.

Drive through Woodenbong towards Legume, Liston and Amosfield passing without exiting Amosfield Rd on the right which heads towards Stanthorpe through which we drive on Sunday the 28th.

Drive to Wilson’s Downfall where arrangements may be available to visit The Piano Mill the venue of an earlier excursion of the CCCQ.

Drive to Tenterfield and exit the town on the New England Highway passing Bluff Rock Lookout, Sandy Flat, Bolivia and Deepwater.

Bluff Rock Lookout, Sandy Flat, and Bolivia could provide stopping places for views while Deepwater has interesting disused and used buildings, before passing Dundee and Yarrowford to Glen Innes.

Many interesting buildings may be seen at Glen Innes.

Allow one and a half hours before meeting at the Super Strawberry on the corner of the New England Highway and Glen Legh Rd.

Drive to Armidale passing Stonehenge, Glencoe, Llangothlin, Guyra and Black Mountain to Armidale where participants have the night on Friday the 26th.

Independently arrange accommodation with multiple choices available.

DAY TWO

Exit Armidale on Saturday the 27th of April at 9.30 on the Waterfall Way passing through Wollomombi. Wollomombi’s St John’s Church is the original timber structure. Wollomombi Falls may be visited, 4kilometres from the town.

Visit Dutton Trout Hatchery on Point Lookout Rd before Ebor seeing the set of waterfalls, Ebor Falls.

Drive through Deer Vale and Fernbrook to Dorrigo where participants have the night on Saturday the 27th after visiting Dangar Falls beforehand. 1/3

DAY THREE

Exit Dorrigo on Sunday the 28th of April at 9.30 on the Coramba Rd after visiting the Dorrigo  Skywalk Lookout, driving towards  Coramba. after crossing Peake Bridge, Marks Bridge, and Megan.

After crossing Coopernook Creek, but before which is the Giant Tallowwood Tree, the road name changes to Eastern Dorrigo Way, heading towards Brooklana.

Pass Ulong to Coramba, arriving at Coramba one and a half hours after leaving Dorrigo.

Turn left into Orara Way, passing Nana Glen, which is only 25 kilometres inland and north east of Coffs Harbour, and where Russell Crowe’s parents live on a 320 hectare property.

Continue on towards Glenreagh and continue to Bluff Bridge through Lanitza, Braunstone to South Grafton, 45 minutes after leaving Coramba.

As the time will be approximately midday, there will be many lunch options, but not before finding the premises of FWC Schaeffer, Architect, who either resided or worked in the building bearing his name in 1909, and who was Grafton’s first architect!

The address of Schaeffer House that contains a Museum and Research Room is at 190 Fitzroy St.

Exit South Grafton on the Gwydir Highway, passing through Jackadgery, Cangai beside the Mann River, then passing through the Washpool National Park and the Gibraltar Range to Glen Innes.

Continue on the Gwydir Highway to Inverill to visit the National Transport Museum.

Exit Inverill on the Ashford Rd passing through Wandera, Bukkulla to Ashford.

Continue on Bonshaw Rd to the Bruxner Highway to Bonshaw and turn right on the Texas Rd to Texas.

Independently arrange accommodation with several choices available.

DAY FOUR

Exit Texas on Monday the 29th of April at 9.30 on the Stanthorpe Texas Rd passing through Pikedale, Greenlands and Broadwater to Stanthorpe.

Continue to Warwick on the New England Highway but without driving through Warwick exit the highway onto Bracker Rd which becomes the Warwick Killarney Rd, passing through Loch Lomond to Killarney.

Exit Killarney on Willow St which becomes Border Rd before turning left onto Spring Creek Rd before visiting Queen Mary Falls and The Falls, Carrs Lookout and The Head.

Pass through Carneys Creek and Croftby to the Boonah Rathdowney Rd. before passing through Coochin, Wallaces Creek to Boonah.

Stop at Boonah for lunch.

Exit Boonah on the Ipswich Boonah Rd., turning right at Coulson on t6he Beaudesert Boonah Rd., to Beaudesert where the excursion is finished and before returning to our respective starting places.
