Waterfall Way Run
1 Oct - 3 Oct
This is the Qld Queens Birthday Long Weekend – This trip was washed out by Covid in 2021.
It is a trip to visit some spectacular waterfalls and hinterland views and an Arctic Beech tree forest – Towns – Hillgrove / New England N.P. / Ebor / Dorrigo. This is a beautiful part of the country and a lovely time of the year.
Saturday 1st October: All meet up in Warwick – Location TBA – Drive, South through Stanthorpe down to Armidale, overnight there.
Sunday 2nd October: After breakfast head East on Waterfall Way. The highlights being Hillgrove, once an old gold mining town of some considerable size, with an interesting Museum. Then on to the New England National Park, if the weather allows, the views from Point Lookout are magnificent, if not then we will do a tour of the Dutton Trout Hatchery, visit the picturesque Ebor Falls and then on to Dorrigo where we will spend the night in comfort in the Dorrigo Heritage Hotel, a classically styled veranda fronted building.
Monday 3rd October:After breakfast we start with a visit to Dangar Falls, just a short drive N/East of town then out to Dorrigo National Park, on Dome Road. The highlights here are the Sky Walk, Tree Top Walk and the Wonga Walk which is deep into the Rainforest and under the Crystal Falls. For the less energetic time can be spent in the Canopy Cafe and checking out the in-depth displays in the exhibition space or the literature for sale in the shop. —- For those who have commitments at home on Tuesday it is time to leave. The suggested route being via Bellingen to the Pacific Highway. It should take about 5 & 1/2 hours back to Brisbane. For those who can stay on, a short trip to Bellingen, food coffee and a walk around, before driving out to the Promised Land to soak in the true beauty of the Bellinger Valley. We then make our way over to The Sanctuary Motor Inn at Coffs Harbour via Sawtell.
Tuesday 4th October: After breakfast we will take in a few highlights of the Coffs Jetty and then head for home.
Accommodation Arrangements: At the moment there is no problem with accommodation but need to get it locked in early.
Cost of rooms vary between $130 to $150 both breakfast and an evening meal are supplied or available at all overnight stops. You will need to supply your own smoko at Warwick on
