(For those who would prefer a BYO morning tea, there’s an attractive park opposite the café.)

Tin Can Bay Traction Run

Sat 11th November to Monday 13th November.

I’m planning a 3 day 2 Night outing to, wait for it, Tin Can Bay. "Tin Can Bay”   I hear u say, "Wot’s at T C Bay”?  Well that’s the idea, not a hell of a lot but the views over the water can be quite pretty.
The run will start at our place, if we get too many then it will be at the Maleny Showgrounds. There will be a B Y O lunch stop en route.
I bought a Land Rover defender down that way about 21/2 yrs. ago, I got the idea then & there so got a couple of brochures. L R’s gone already, that’s another story.
I recon a boat trip in the Bay will keep us busy for one day & also a drive to Rainbow Bch. if there’s time.
You can take ya traction up the beach to Double Is. Point if the tide is out & u want to cut the rust out again. Remember this is a traction run. If u have a traction & it’s going or close to it then get it out, if u don’t or it’s not then ya other Cit will be fine. The idea is to get cobweb covered tractions out.
We will be staying at the pub, "Sleepy Lagoon Hotel” ph. 54880653   I have pre-booked 10 cabins that will be held for 2 wks. $40 / night /person if more than one in a cabin. Single person in a cabin is a bit more. MAKE SURE you mention Citroen Car Club when booking.
I rang a ferry operator & put a booking on a 2hr. cruise from 4pm on the Sunday. They are licensed for 42 persons. Bring ya pre dinner nibbles, Coopers, reds & PLASTIC glasses, we’ll be back in time for dinner at a chosen venue. If we have more than 42 people they’ll do an earlier cruise as well.
The ferry, “TONDALEO” is a 40 yo. x Brissy / Moreton Bay runner. The operator’s wife recons Citroens are her favourite car.  The cost of the two hour trip is  $30.
So far I have a fair bit of interest in this run so come along & make it that bit better.     Steeley.
WHEN….. Saturday 11th November 9 am to Mon. 13th
WHERE….. Our place 574 Maleny Montville Rd. or as above Maleny Showgrounds. Those in the Noosa or northern areas can meet in Pomona or Kin KIN where I plan lunch & just maybe a coldie at the local.
CONTACT…..Steeley         This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.         or text 0427608186  (remember I still work)
BRING…..picnic stuff, tables chairs, tucker, RACQ maps Brisbane-Sunshine Coast & Fraser Coast.  T C Bay  has  stores, local supermarket not far away, fuel available.

A bit more on the Traction Run.
Helen & I went out last Sun. & drove the route chosen for the T. C. Bay Run. we changed one section as there was 5ks of rough dirt after having figured from the map it would be just 2ks & hopefully smooth. Wrong! So it’s ALL sealed roads.
The Cabins which are beside the pub are clean, as is the pub. it's a pretty relaxed place, the staff appear very obliging. Not 5 star, neither is the price.
Paul, manager of the cabins offered the suggestion of personal seafood platters, that I was assured are local, to be delivered on site, we could sit under the huge mango tree
under which and aided by, lets say, a white or a red or a bubbly or even a Coopers & tell a few lies, maybe even a true story.
H & I thought the seafood platter could be on the Sat. night after we arrive.
Sun. after we have our happy 'two' hours while cruising the tranquil waters of T C Bay we thought a visit to the Marina Restaurant & Bar who are offering our group a 2 course, 3 choice set menu for $35 would be the go.  To me, as I'm not much of an eating out buff, except for pizza, this seems pretty decent value.

I will need numbers for the above meals, Pls email me if your coming & if you want the meals.

A copy of the platter flier is also coming your way.
T C B has an IGA supermarket so don’t feel you will be starved of groceries, it’s not the little smelly fishing village of 40 yrs. ago when Helen’s sister called it “Shit Can Bay"
There will be more updates as the date nears.

Please advise if ya coming & want meals as above, Steeley

PS    remember I have asked Paul at the cabin section of the pub to hold 10 cabins for 2 wks. one has already passed & one cabin taken, ours. I’m aware this has taken longer  than I expected to reach you all, an issue with computers not communicating. They have have taught the kids of today to lose the ‘art’ of communication now they’ve lost it themselves!!

I’ll ask for an extension if necessary but I do also ask if your coming to get in touch with Paul for cabins & me for meals & the cruise.

The subject is wide open and not limited to cars!  Articles can be a paragraph,a page or a chapter or even an interesting article you have come across.  Lance Wearne.
