Citin 2018 is to be held  in Queensland at Dalby.

30th March - 2nd April.

2018 is the 50th anniversary of the annual Cit-In,  held in a different state every year. This year the event is a special one, being the 50th Anniversary of the Australian Citins and is being hosted by the QLD Club.  It is held over the Easter week-end and the venue chosen is the country town of Dalby.  Book now to avoid disappointment.

                  -----         -------       ---------         ----------         ---------            ------------

To All Members,
As  of tomorrow the 1st February you have 28 days to book into the 2018 Cit In being held in Dalby.  Every effort is being made for the 50th Cit In to be the friendliest and most exciting  Cit In ever.  Included in your entry fee will be all meals, except two breakfasts and we have even arranged for you to get those at a very special price, a day visit to the Jondaryan Woolshed, with a sit down lunch, for our show and  shine, entry and meal are included in our event.  Sunday will be a day trip up to the Bunyas and will include a fun “Observation Run’ with a packed lunch supplied.  Also on offer is a 100 ticket raffle for $400 voucher for accommodation in the Bunyas.
Our Cit In will be centred around the Dalby Showgrounds Pavilion which is an excellent entertaining venue, large and comfortable with very good facilities.  It has a commercial kitchen from which our professional caterers will serve our meals.  In addition there is a bar which will be open each evening.  There will be entertainment each night along with,we hope, a couple of guest speakers.
The good news about accommodation is that Kobbers Motel (4669 7488), the one closest to the venue, has opened its books and is accepting booking over the Easter period.
Don’t miss this opportunity, support your Club and join in the one and only 50th Cit In.
Allen Maze,

Cit In Coordinator

                  27th January 2018

From Allen Maze:

I have recently been alerted to the fact that ‘Online Booking Services’ are showing a shortage of accommodation in Dalby over Easter, this is not true. I have spoken to the lady at the Mid Town Motel and she tells me that she took her bookings off the online services because she was offering a $10.00 discount per night and has plenty or rooms available. The story is similar at Park View Motel.

Can I recommend that you use the listings shown on our web site and ring the motels direct to make your bookings.

        The Post Cit-in Tour - the B Tour -

is being arranged by Ian Steele

G’day to all who are coming to the 2018 Cit-in at Dalby Qld. I have been asked to organise the ‘Apres Cit-in tour’. It has been noted that several people want info. on the tour, I hope this will suffice for the time being.

After organising the last one in 2011 from Stanthorpe there was a problem deciding where to run this tour. The problem wasn’t finding somewhere to go, rather it was trying to get somewhere within a practical distance as Qld. is such a vast state.

Helen & I just did a trip to Cape York, we travelled 12k. km., didn’t leave the state, & only covered a fraction of it. Probably 1,500km. of the 12km. was, admittedly extra we did while setting the 'Apres Cit-in Tour’. On the way home while were in the chosen area & not wanting to run the tour on main roads there was lots of back tracking. For example we went to the small town of Injune 3 times, normally a blink is enough to miss it.

So, I hear you ask where is it going? Carnarvon Gorge, & up to through the gem fields of Rubyvale, Sapphire & Anakie, which are near Emerald, Who’s gonna be shouted the biggest mounted gem stone by a loving spouse? That’s where, then back to our place near Maleny. You will cover quite a vast variety of terrain en route & nights could be starting to get cool, days still warm though.

I have chosen a name for the run, "B Tour", here’s Bloody why. There is.
Beer, Bulls, Beef, Brigalow trees, Brolgas, Big Bulls, Big Bulls with Big Balls, Bad language, Bloodwood trees, Bulldozers, Big Bulldozers, Brumbys, Big Boots, Bottle trees, Bustards, they’re  Birds, Box trees, Brumbys, Bad roads, Burgers, Big Burgers with Big chunks of Burnt Beef on ’em, Big B doubles called road trains, Bunya trees, arucaria Bidwilli, Bad Breath, Both types of Bullshit, Bottle Brush trees and Bouncing on Big Bumps, Toyotas, lots of Toyota Landcruisers & some Barstard running the show.

The B Tour will be, I think at this stage, about 10 days covering approx. 2200km. We will traverse over quite a few good dirt roads, though there are alternative sealed roads in all cases. Of course once we get to the stage where we aren’t tied to a timetable it could be extended. Also, if somebody is running out of time they can do a runner & leave anytime.

I have been to Carnarvon Gorge a few times & done quite a few of the day walks, an overnighter once. One of the most spectacular walks is only a couple of hours return. There isn’t any camping in the National Park, unless of course you are out o’night. We will be staying a few k’s from the park where there are cabins & camping with plenty of space.

A lot of collating is yet to be done on my notes so of course there will be more of these emails with places we're staying & ph.#’s so you can make ya bookings.

That’s it till next time, hope to see ya’s in Dalby. Any questions please email me.   This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

First update for the ‘Apres Cit-in ‘B’ Tour’

Please note the correction to the SPRINGSURE Caravan Park telephone No.

Correct number is:   4984 1418

Apologies from Ian.

After being a bit too slack over the last couple of months I’ve finally got things going. I spent today in maps, notes we took back in August, on the phone & even a couple of emails. Here is a guide of what is planned. Remember it will be school hols. so book early, especially at Carnarvon Gorge. Be sure to mention Citroen Car Club when booking, may even save you a few bucks!! I have asked a couple of places to find the local poet or Slim impersonator to join us around the fire in exchange for a few beers.
Mon. 2nd April, Dalby to Roma, 320km. staying TWO NIGHTS at Villa Holiday Pk. 07 46221309,    This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Tues. 3rd April, spending the day in Roma, same booking.
Wed. 4th. Roma to Springsure 310km. staying TWO NIGHTS at Springsure C’van Pk. 07 4984 1418,    This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Thur. 5th. spend the day doing a bit of sight seeing & visiting Emerald, biggest local town for miles. Also visit Sapphire & Rubyvale so the blokes can buy a few gems in exchange for a brownie points. Same booking.
Fri. 6th. Springsure to Carnarvon Gorge 175km.. staying TWO NIGHTS at Takarakka Bush Resort. 07 49844535,
Sat 7th. plenty of walking / hiking in the gorge to get off some of the blubber that’s developed from all the sitting in the car. Same booking.
Sun 8th. Car’von Gorge to Mitchell. 320km. Staying at Major Mitchell Caravan Pk. 07 46236600.     There are artesian hot springs to soak a bit more blubber off a short walk from the park. This park is on the main road west so be sure to book early!
Mon. 9th. Mitchell to Condamine. 280km. Staying at Condamine Caravan Pk. 07 46277179. Not a big place so not lots to see but the inside of the pub (across the road) is worth staring at for a time, several beers time actually. Be a good place to have a feed too.
Tue. 10th. C’mine to Maleny. 350km. We have one room that our house sitter will be using, a couch & a verandah. Maleny Hills Motel  3ks. down the road. 07 54942551. Or Maleny Tropical Retreat adjoins our place, 07 54352113. I’ll even cut the grass to our fence if anyone stays here! Or if your after something really special there’s Lillypilly Cottages right beside us. 07 54943002.
I also had another idea of spending a couple of extra nights & go to Rainbow Beach on the way home. Big coloured sand dunes, real pretty place. I just ran a traction run there, 10 tractions came. It’s a bit less than 2hr’s from home. Let me know if you would like the extra time away & I’ll do some booking, remember it’s school hol’s though.
Please contact me by email if coming      This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
  Keep’em up n pumping Steeley
P S.  It will be handy if those coming had a CB radio, hand held will be better than nothing. Also If you can get hold of three RACQ maps… Brisbane Sunshine Coast, Rockhampton Mackay Gladstone, & South East. they’ll cover where we’re going. Steeley

 B Tour……a Tribute to Ron       Sunday 11th Feb 2018

G’day all. Just a short update.
I have added a bit to the name of the run as a small tribute to Ron Purvis, long time & life member of the Qld club.
Sadly Ron recently left us. He was a very keen owner & driver of Cits during the driving period of his 87 years. Ron, along with one of his sons, was with us on the last Apres Cit-in run in Qld & I have no doubt he’d be with us again this year if things didn’t go against him.
This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Areas of the run have had rain so the scenery will be spectacular

So far I have 8 vehicles starting, surely we can do better than that!

Make sure you mention ‘Citroen Car Club Run’ when booking accom.

If you have a CB radio, even a hand held with good batteries, bring it along.

If you can access maps thru your local RAC club get two RACQ maps.”South East Qld’ & ‘Rockhampton/Mackay/Gladstone’

I have contacted all the c’van pks we’re staying at. It appears that not all of you that have contacted me have booked in, remember it is school hols. so you’d better get to it. I was also told the opposite, some have booked but as yet I haven’t been advised directly, PLEASE let me know by email.

Registration closing time is fast approaching so if your coming to Cit.In & haven’t registered you’d get onto it.
